There are more than 100 libraries within the University. Of these, you will generally be able to use your college library, your faculty or departmental library, and the University Library (the UL). You will be registered automatically with the UL, and possibly also with your college and faculty or departmental libraries. With other libraries, you may have to register on your first visit.
If you search for a book using iDiscover, you may find that the list of results includes copies in libraries across the University. If there are several copies of the book you need, the easiest way to get hold of it is to borrow or reserve it from the library in your college or faculty or from the UL. If that isn’t possible, you can enquire about using other libraries.
Many faculty and department libraries also admit members of the University who are not members of the faculty or department, and you will be able to borrow from some of them. This may be useful if you are looking for material outside your subject area. In most cases, college libraries only admit and loan books to students from that college, although you may be permitted to consult a book if it is unavailable elsewhere.
All University members and alumni can use the UL and most can borrow books from there. The UL also admits people from outside the University.
If you want to use another library, it is best to contact them in advance to check if you need to visit at a particular time or bring anything wtih you in addition to your University Card. The Libraries Directory lists details about each library in the University.
