Current staff and student Wi-Fi access
Access to eresources is possible via your device, through wireless hotspots that are available throughout the University via the Eduroam Wi-Fi network. See Eduroam instructions for current staff or students at the University of Cambridge for further information
Library readers Wi-Fi access
From April 2024 the Wi-Fi network for non-members of the University will change.
- The UniOfCam Wi-Fi network will be switched over to UniOfCam-Guest Wi-Fi network.
- You’ll create your new login, when you are ready, using the information and links emailed to you. (Simply contact us if you need any help, details below.)
Your new login will allow access to the Library’s computers, UniOfCam-Guest Wi-Fi, printing, photocopying and scanning, logging in to iDiscover to request material, and subscription e-resources while you are on site.
-
Open the Wi-Fi settings on your device. A list of networks will appear.
-
Select the 'UniOfCam-Guest' Wi-Fi network from your list of available networks. You'll see the login page appear on your device. Try opening a private browser window if you do not see a login page. Some HTTP sites have been created to force login pages to appear. Try going to http://neverssl.com or http://httpforever.com.

-
Tick the box to accept the terms of use and "Log In".
-
You will see a message confirming you are now connected to UniOfCam-Guest.
To access subscription eresources as a Library reader, log in to iDiscover.

Visitors using Eduroam registered at home institution
If you are a visitor from a university, college or other institution supporting Eduroam and have configured your laptop as instructed by your local computing or information service then it should automatically connect to our wireless network as soon as you open a browser. The advantages of eduroam are that you do not need to obtain a UniOfCam wireless ticket and access is available so long as you are affiliated with your home institution.
Please be aware that if you wish to access Cambridge University eresources, whilst onsite, you will need to follow the instructions above for UniOfCam-Guest' Wi-Fi network.
